I love a monthly challenge, and I love finding ways to incorporate my faith into a more scheduled manner. I live for scheduling. My Type A personality loves books that set out to do something over a given period of time–7 days, a month, a year, et cetera.

So, when I overheard a recent discussion about monthly devotionals, I knew I wanted to put a piece together for the women who are looking for a more regimented way to connect with God, focus on their faith, and maybe unlock something new.

Without further ado, here are five devotionals geared towards bringing you closer to God in one month. Of course, you’ll get out what you put in, but these are great stepping stones for people still looking to grow in their faith as well as those of us who don’t have a consistent church-going experience for whatever reason. It’s easy to set aside a little time each day to get closer to the Lord.

She Prays: A 31-Day Journey to Confident Conversations with God

She shows you how to replace the pressure to perform in prayer with a faith-filled expectation–trusting that God is delighted with every conversation and every word we whisper to him. Her desire is that your soul will be transformed as your confidence in prayer grows, and that your faith will be strengthened as you see God work through your prayers in ways you never imagined possible.

A Month of Sundays: Thirty-One Days of Wrestling with Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John

Eugene Peterson was quite concerned about the language we use between Sundays. He strived for a continuity of language between the words we use in Bible studies and the words we use when we are out hiking, at work, or eating dinner with family. He illustrated this passion in his writings and weekly sermons. A Month of Sundays is a devotional collection featuring excerpts of Eugene’s Sunday sermons arranged into thoughtful readings for every day of the month, drawn from the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

The Devoted Life: A Creative Devotional Journal

This topically guided creative journal for teen girls offers inspiration and encouragement for those who desire to live their lives fully devoted to Christ. Amidst the loud, confusing voices of the world, trying to tell them which way is the right way to go, girls need to stop, rest, refuel, and reflect in the presence of their truest Friend and most loyal heavenly Father. Whether it’s through creativity, meditating on scripture, prayer, or writing, readers will join young author and artist, Marjorie Jackson, for a time of life-giving fun, faith-strengthening encouragement, and God-glorifying growth. As girls connect with their first love, Jesus, they will begin to understand that life is truly good with a God who is absolutely great!
