What a year it’s been. While there are so many things we have to be thankful for from 2016, we’ve had our speed bumps as well. Here are 10 things we’d be happy to leave behind as we bring in 2017.

1) Clinton Politics

hillary-clinton-bill-clinton-scandals-home_0America has spoken (twice). With Hillary’s defeat in November, it has become quite clear that the American people believe Clinton politics are a thing of the past. After thirty years of Clintons in our political system, it’s time for them to retire and leave 2017 to some fresh faces.

2) Hoverboards
maxresdefault-1Let’s be honest, you’re not even allowed to have them in most places – it’s time to forget them all together.

3) Celebrities Pushing a Political Agenda

katy-perry-and-hillary-clintonYou’re famous because you can sing. Stop using that influence to push a political agenda, we don’t care who you’re voting for. We don’t care that you’re going to “move to Canada” – we care that your concert tickets are outrageously priced.

4) Pokemon Go

We get it, the app makes kids exercise. It also makes them run out in traffic and stampede businesses they don’t intend to shop at. Enough is enough. Go for a walk to enjoy nature rather than chasing creatures around the city.

5) The Dab

Just like the Panthers’ winning streak, all good things must come to an end.

6) The idea that socialism is cool

The idea that everyone is entitled to an equal outcome has been all the rage this year. Struggling millennials latched onto Bernie Sanders and his campaign for equality. In 2017, let’s come back down to earth and remember that free stuff isn’t actually free.

7) Man Buns

I’ll admit, this was cool for a while. The rugged look definitely had it’s moment, but I’m afraid that moment has passed. On the contrary, a clean cut man in a suit will never get old.

8) Rioting

You have a First Amendment right to protest, I will absolutely respect that. You do not have a right to burn businesses, homes, and towns to express your dissatisfaction. Do your local law enforcement a favor and leave the violence in 2016.

9) The Puppy Dog Snapchat Filter

Yes it’s cute and tends to make about anyone look better, myself included. That being said, it’s overused and unnecessary. This is not meant to be your profile picture, nor is it meant for Instagram, and it’s time to give it a rest.

10) Divisiveness

I was once told that I won the lottery the day I was born in the United States and it really stuck out to me. We are one nation, living in the best country in the world. Enough of the “ist” identities, enough of the us vs. them. We are one people, united under one constitution. Let’s use 2017 to start acting like neighbors rather than enemies.
